#MyFirstSwimMeet is a celebratory community swim meet created specifically for graduates of + POOL’s Bluefish Learn-to-Swim Program who have continued training and developing their skills with + POOL instructors throughout the past year. For every participant, this event marks an exciting milestone: their very first swim meet experience.

The meet will feature a variety of activities and races tailored to different skill levels and comfort levels in the water. Events will include “swim your best stroke,” team relays, kickboard races, and even coaches races that allow instructors and students to share in the excitement together. Swimmers will also take part in special event challenges where they will record their first official times for the 25-meter and 50-meter freestyle, creating meaningful benchmarks in their swimming journeys.

All additional races will be untimed in order to foster encouragement, reduce pressure, and help participants focus on skill development, confidence, and community rather than competition alone. The goal of #MyFirstSwimMeet is to create positive first experiences in organized swimming while reinforcing the importance of water safety, perseverance, and access to aquatic spaces.

At its heart, #MyFirstSwimMeet is a celebration of how far these swimmers have come — from first entering the water to confidently participating in a swim meet surrounded by teammates, coaches, friends, and family.
