The 100 Lap Challenge

The 100 Lap Challenge is a community fundraising event supporting Bluefish, + POOL’s free summer learn-to-swim program that provides swim education and water safety instruction to children across New York City. Combining endurance, teamwork, and purpose, the challenge invites swimmers of all experience levels to come together in support of expanding access to swimming education and creating a more water-safe city.

Participants take on the challenge by committing to swim a total of 100 laps. Swimmers may choose to complete the full distance individually or form a team to divide the laps however they wish, making the event accessible to competitive swimmers, casual swimmers, families, friends, and community groups alike. Whether tackling all 100 laps solo or contributing as part of a relay-style effort, every participant plays a role in helping support the next generation of swimmers.

Each team or individual swimmer also commits to raising $4,000, directly supporting the Bluefish program and helping fully fund free swim lessons, instruction, and water safety education for young New Yorkers. Through this collective effort, participants are not only challenging themselves physically, but also helping remove barriers to swim access and creating opportunities for children who may otherwise never have the chance to learn critical life-saving skills in the water.
