We added Janette Sadik-Khan, Dr. Shaden Marzouk and Nora Cronin to the team

We added three brilliant women to the + POOL team in January 2021 as we began to embark on next steps with NYCEDC for + POOL.  Following our milestone “Confirmation to Proceed” on the project in the waters north of the Manhattan Bridge we knew we needed to expand the team for the next phase of + POOL’s development. To start, this included two new board members and one new staff member to help bring our project to fruition!

Janette oversaw the 2013 launch of Citi Bike, the nation’s largest bike-share system and added more than 400 miles of bike lanes in New York City during her time as Commissioner of the Department of Transportation. Shaden is an MD and an MBA who has extensive experience across all areas of the health sector.  Nora joins us on the day-to-day as a full-time staff member who has experience working in NYS agencies and NYC aquatics. Together, these three incredible women will join the rest of the + POOL team to provide expertise in their fields and help lead the organization and project through its next phases.

Janette Sadik-Khan, Principal, Bloomberg Associates

Janette Sadik-Khan is Transportation Principal at Bloomberg Associates, one of the world’s foremost authorities on transportation and urban transformation. A founding principal with Bloomberg Associates, she works with mayors around the world to reimagine and redesign their cities. She chairs the National Association of Transportation Officials, implementing new, people-focused street design standards, including the Global Street Design Guide, which has been adopted by 100 cities and organizations around the world. She is the author of Streetfight: Handbook for an Urban Revolution.

Dr. Shaden Marzouk, CEO, Health, for Hudson’s Bay Company

Dr. Shaden Marzouk is currently CEO, Health, for Hudson’s Bay Company. Previously, she was President and CEO of CareMore Health and Aspire Health, subsidiaries of Anthem. Shaden received an MBA from The Fuqua School of Business, Duke University. She advises health technology companies and serves on boards in the healthcare industry. In her spare time, Shaden loves exploring New York City and pursuing the perfect coffee.

Nora Cronin, Development Director 

Nora is a swimmer and past Board President of Team New York Aquatics, a non-profit organization home to inclusive aquatics programs founded and led by the LGBTQ+ community. Prior to joining the team at + POOL, Nora served the public as an attorney and a policy maker for the City and State of New York, growing her program’s budget from $400K to over $2M. In addition to leading fundraising initiatives, she is excited to help + POOL be seen not just as a physical facility, but as a holistic non-profit that serves the city’s recreation needs.
