Hired water engineer Greg Grzybowski

When we realized we needed to be doing actual science back in 2011, we definitely didn’t know anybody in the necessary fields. We relied on cold calls, and people reaching out to us. As a result, + POOL’s team has been comprised of incredible people that were simply interested in what we were doing. Greg was one of those people.

Hailing from the great country of Canada, Greg wrote Dong an email with the subject: “getting involved with plus pool?” Besides the fact he had just graduated in environmental engineering with a background in water resource and hydraulics, he said “I think getting New Yorkers into the river is one of the most innovative ideas around.” We were sold, and he was hired.

Greg, with the advisement of Nancy Choi at Arup, led the daily testing of Float Lab at Pier 40 in Hudson River Park. Every day, from 9-5pm, Greg took water quality samples, tested for bacteria counts, adjusted our filtration systems, and analyzed the data. Without getting insanely technical, we wouldn’t have a working filtration system with Greg. Forever thankful.
