City of Water Day 2022
For City of Water Day 2022, Friends of + POOL is planning a one-day, pop-up exhibition of urban swim projects from around the world beginning at Pier 17 (89 South Street) through the Brooklyn Bridge Esplanade to Pier 35 (260 South Street), the future site of + POOL and urban swimming in NYC.
Projects like the Bassin de La Villette (Paris, France) and the Harbour Baths (Coppenhagen, Denmark) have created urban swimming environments around the world. The exhibition will highlight these aquatic marvels and the accompanying walking tours to the future site of + POOL will help audiences imagine the possibilities of urban swimming in NYC.
During the tour, + POOL docents will discuss stewardship of the river, water quality sampling that is taking place all summer long, and the history of swimming in the river. Tours will depart from Pier 17 on the hour throughout the day, beginning at 11am.
+ POOL is the proud recipient of a grant from the Hudson River Foundation who is supporting this exhibition.
