2024 was year of growth for all of our programs!
This year, we provided life-saving swim education and fitness programs to underserved New Yorkers! Through our Adult Learn to Swim (ALTS) program, we taught 105 adults, many of whom overcame lifelong barriers to swimming. Our Summer Bluefish program helped 155 kids aged 5-17 gain water safety skills and build a love for swimming, while our new Lifeguard Workforce Development Pilot supported 169 participants, with 61 achieving full Red Cross certification to combat the lifeguard shortage.
We also launched CitySplash!, introducing 75 participants to artistic swimming, and hosted aqua fitness classes for over 100 adults. As we move closer to opening the world’s first floating pool at Pier 35, we’re doubling down on our mission to make NYC’s waterways accessible, safe, and equitable for all.
Generous support for + POOL’s swim programs in 2024 has been provided by Jeff Barany, Janine Luke, Marian Klein-Fledt, Sharon Davis, Robert and Linda Meyer, Claire Weisz, Ginger Groeber, Laurie David, Fontas Advisors, the New York City Council, the USA Swimming Foundation, and the over 100 individuals who contribute to crowdfunding campaigns and believe in the transformative power of swimming and education.
