LES Aquatic History Tour

We are excited to partner with New York Adventure Club for this special event!

Did you know that the Lower East Side and Two Bridges neighborhood of Manhattan is the birthplace of aquatic recreation in NYC? Join + POOL in partnership with New York Adventure Club as we take a walk (you can do swimmy arms too if you like) starting at Hamilton Fish Pool on E. Houston and Pitt Street, one of the WPA Pools built during the summer of pools in 1936.

Then, we’ll take a trip back in time to where it all started, to the bathhouses of the Lower East Side that existed as part of the hygiene movement in the 1880s, and then to the East River, where floating baths were part of NYC culture! Finally, we’ll end at Pier 35, the future home of + POOL, and talk about the future of aquatics in New York City. Expect a two-hour tour, with about 35-40 minutes of walking throughout.

This event is free for our Monthly Lappers! If you are interested in joining us with a recurring donation, head over to the donation page and email nora@pluspool.com to get your ticket code!

All other tickets are $32 and may be purchased here.
